Dr. Adolph Gallegos

December 10, 1929 — February 22, 2020

Dr. Adolph Gallegos, age 90, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 22, 2020, while surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 10, 1929 in Mountainair, NM to the late Prudencio and Maria Gallegos.  Adolph was a lifelong educator. He received his PH.d in adult Education. His friends called him Dr. FoFo and he loved it! He was a Teacher, Assistant Principal and Counselor.  Adolph retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools in 1986  after 25 years of service.

He was a devout Catholic and taught by example.  He was an active member at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where he served in many ministries, including Marriage Enrichment, St. Vincent de Paul, Sacristan and many more.  He also served in the Alameda Lion's Club for many years and moved up the ranks to become Governor. He had a passion for his service because his aunt was blind.  He was also active in serving the poor at St. Felix and found time to square dance. Adolph enjoyed traveling with his wife all over the world. In 2013 he and his wife traveled to Rome with Monsignor Douglas Raun and was blessed to have front row seats to see Pope Benedict.  He spent a lot of time in prayer.

Adolph is survived by his wife of 64 years, Henrietta Gallegos; six children, Ralph and wife Beth, Virginia and husband Maurice, Steve and wife Colleen, Margaret, Sara and husband Roy, Ellie and husband Ed; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are his siblings and their spouses,, Romain (Lupe), Sally (Max), Cece (Lorenzo), and Dolores (Phil); and other numerous relatives and friends.  Adolph will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Veronica Matthews, Dr. Ortega, and both Hospice Teams for taking tremendous care of our husband and father.

Dr. Adolph's advice to people was to have faith, hope, love, and to always pray together.  We will miss you Papa!

Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Joaquin Saiz, Jesse Gallegos, Raymond Jaramillo, Jason Lee, Adam Benavides, and John Cotterill.
