Alice Montaño

Alice Montaño, age 87, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, was embraced by the Lord and taken to Eternal Life, Saturday, January 30, 2016.   She was born in Albuquerque, NM and was a resident of Los Chavez, NM.

She was preceded in death by son, Victor Montaño; her parents, Victorio and Maria Luisa Castillo; her twin brother, Victor Castillo.  Alice is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Leo Montaño; her children, Leonard Montaño and wife Rosemarie, Theresa Lucero and husband LeeRoy, Michael Montaño, and Emily Montaño; 14 grandchildren, Andrew Victor Montaño, Adrian Montaño, Ann Marie Leyba, Elisha Sandoval, Monica Lucero, David Lucero, Angelina Montaño, Monique Montano, Jeannine Saavedra, Victoria Fleischman, Victor Montaño, Evander Montaño, Elaine Baca, Stephanie Baca; and 24 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her sisters, Carmen Richards, Lina Marquez Aragon and husband Frank, Irene Candelaria and husband Chris, Maria Luisa Cullum and husband Larry, Gloria Castillo; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Alice's wit and loving care will be greatly missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Ave., NE, Los Lunas, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will take place on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  Casket Bearers will be Ann Marie Leyba, Elisha Sandoval, Angelina Montaño, Victoria Fleischman, Adrian Montaño, David Lucero, Ishmael Lucero, and Arlo Starr.  Honorary Bearers will be Andrew Montaño, Monica Lucero, Elaine Baca, and Stephanie Baca.
