Arlene Schiesl

March 23, 1937 — May 1, 2015

Arlene Christine Schiesl (Paradowski) was born on March 23, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She was the oldest child born to George and Marian Paradowski and has a younger sister, Kathy Paradowski, who lives in Albuquerque.  Arlene attended South Division High School and graduated in 1954.  She then went to work for the City of Milwaukee as a secretary at City Hall.

She met Roy Schiesl in 1956 and they were married on October 22, 1960.   Their daughter Jill was born in October 1961.   A second daughter Amy was born in August 1965, but sadly she passed away from a heart defect in October 1965. Two more sons followed: Michael born August 1966 and Andrew born August 1971.

In 1964 her husband started an electrical contracting company and Arlene worked for many years in the office of this small business.  In 1988 she joined the staff of Kindercare preschool and worked with children in the before and after school program until she retired in 1996.

In 1998 Roy and Arlene moved to Albuquerque to take advantage of the wonderful weather.  Jill and her husband Randy and their two children Kevin and Kelly (23 and 20) had moved to Albuquerque in 1997.  Arlene enjoyed visits from her two sons Michael and his wife Tammy and their sons Nicholas and Nathan (17 and 15) and Andrew and his wife Alison and their son Skyler (9 months).

Arlene took advantage of her retirement by belonging to the senior center, taking classes in basket making and Swedish weaving, creating needlepoint pictures, carving kachina dolls, swimming, attending plays at the Adobe Theater, shopping and going out to lunch with her sister Kathy, enjoying the Balloon Fiesta, and dining out in Old Town on Christmas Eve.

In early April, Arlene was admitted to the hospital with severe nerve pain, congestive heart failure and kidney failure.  She passed away peacefully in hospice care the afternoon of May 1st at the age of 78.

Arlene was a beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend and she will be dearly missed by family and friends.
