CHAVEZ-Barbara Jean Chavez passed away peacefully at her home on April 20th, 2021. Barbara was born in Corrales, NM to Candelario and Lonicia Lopez on March 1st, 1936. She is preceded in death by her husband Juan De Dios Chavez; her son Randy Chavez; her daughters Sandra Ann and Juanita Chavez; her granddaughter Nicole Casados Axt; her sisters Dina, Tonie; her brother Ezequiel. Barbara is survived by her children and their spouses, Carmen Casados and late husband Robert, Jeanette Chavez Miller and Steve, Juan De Dios Chavez Jr, Max Chavez and Margie, she had nine grandchildren, Lisa Chavez, Amanda Speir, Frances Renee Chavez, Jonathan Chavez, Maximiliano Chavez, Cheylynne Chavez, Louie Garcia, Catherine Fisher and Robert Bahr, she had thirteen great-grandchildren Jacob, Josh, Carmen Elena, Luke, Taylor, Trey, Sidney, Rylan, Avery, Auriel, Margot, Jaylum, Bella and Aiden, one sister, Evangeline Lopez; sisters-in-law, Lore Augilar and Manuel, Margaret Lopez, and Rose Chavez; brother-in-law Dennis Chavez and Mary; as well as many nieces and nephews, godchildren, family, and friends. Barbara was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother. She loved to crochet and embroider; care for her flowers; make homemade jellies, salsa and she made the best biscochitos and chocolate chip cookies; She loved going to Bingo with her family; and loved being with her family, Barbara was also a member of SNMDMP No. 2 Society. The family would like to thank Dr. David Hardwicke for the care he provided for our mother throughout the years.
We will miss our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Pallbearers will be Maximiliano Chavez, Louie Garcia, Jacob Chavez, Josh Chavez, Luke Romo, Raymond Aguilar. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Pacheco, Martin Chavez, and Jonathan Chavez.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday April 27, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Alameda Mortuary, Rosary will be held on Wednesday April 28, 2021 at 8:00 am, Mass at 9:00 am at St. Therese Little Flower Church. Interment will follow to Mount Calvary Cemetery.
