Charles Aurelio Martinez

Albuquerque - Charles Aurelio Martinez, 89, died battling cancer on 07 May 2023, at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born 31 May 1933 in Cimarron, New Mexico USA, the son of Aurelio and Carmelita Martinez.

Charles graduated from Cimarron High School in 1952 in which he also played Varsity basketball. After high school he served in the US Air Force in which he served during the Korean War Conflict. After the war he attended the University of New Mexico and majored in Electrical Engineering. He subsequently attended North American Television Institute, RCA Institute New York, RCA Service Company, EG&G Weapons Test Training. He retired from Sandia Labs in 2001. He was a Life-Time VFW member.

In July of 1968 he married Piedad “Pat” Martinez. His family consisted of four children, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all who adored him. He also kept in close contact with nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Max, Jose, Florenzo, Henry, Tony, Victoria, Rebecca, Margaret, and Bella. Also, his grandson Ray Jr. Surviving in addition to his wife is daughters Melisa Martinez, Patricia Coleman-Zamora and her husband John, son Ray Coleman M.Ed. and his wife Dolores “Lola”, and daughter Dinah Coleman-Brewer, many nieces, and nephews.

 Honorary pallbearers are Michael Zamora, Jacob Molina, Jared Valencia, Apollo Lucero, Andres Aragon.
