Obituary

Connie E. Morgas, age 90, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on July 7, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born on May 20, 1936.

Connie was a woman of deep faith whose life reflected the power of prayer, unconditional love, and selfless devotion to her family. She prayed faithfully every day for those she loved, always lifting each person up to God by name. Her quiet strength, unwavering faith, and generous heart touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved visiting the casino, playing bingo at her favorite senior center, baking delicious treats, cooking for those she loved, and tending to her garden. She also cherished traveling with her family in their motor home, especially the trips spent visiting her beloved Morgas family, whom she loved dearly. Connie had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs, and her compassion extended to every living creature.

Connie was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in El Paso, Texas, and later Nativity Catholic Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where her faith continued to guide her throughout her life.

She is survived by her brother, Juan Esparza (Maria); her children, Ernie Morgas, Daniel Morgas (Lily), Sam Morgas (Annette), and Julie Morgas Baca (Ted); her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sara Morgas; her parents, Manuel and Ignacia Esparza; her siblings, Grace Campos, Manuel Esparza, Beatriz Lozano, and Jessie Bustillos; and her former spouse, Ernie E. Morgas, Sr.

Connie loved her family deeply and sacrificed so much to provide for and care for them. Her love was constant, selfless, and unconditional, and the legacy she leaves behind is one of faith, kindness, generosity, and enduring love.

Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregiver and companion, Paty Delgado, whose loving care and friendship meant so much to Connie, and to the compassionate Presbyterian Hospital Hospice Team for the exceptional care and comfort they provided.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant Road, El Paso, Texas. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, 4848 Alps Drive, El Paso, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of El Paso at hselpaso.org, in honor of Connie's lifelong love for animals.
