DONACIANO Peter Gutierrez

July 30, 1965 — February 12, 2024

Donaciano Peter Gutierrez was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of countless people through his dedicated service, unwavering commitment, and genuine kindness. Born on July 30, 1965, in Albuquerque and raised in the close-knit community of Los Duranes neighborhood, Donaciano's journey was one characterized by selflessness and an unwavering devotion to his loved ones.

Donaciano's educational accomplishments were rooted in his alma mater, Valley High School, where he graduated with the Class of '83. He took great pride in his sons, Don (Jr), Ben, Andrew, and Isaiah, who also graduated from Valley High School or were about to join its ranks. His love for education and the success of his children were evident as he beamed with joy whenever he spoke of their achievements.

After completing high school, Donaciano embarked on a career that made a profound impact on the community. Starting on December 2, 1985, he dedicated himself to serving at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center (BCDC). Rising through the ranks with integrity and diligence, he retired on June 9, 2006, as a respected Transport Officer. Even after retirement, Donaciano's passion for service remained unquenched as he continued working at the Department of Defense.

Donaciano held another title that filled him with immense pride – that of a veteran. Enlisting into the US Army National Guard on August 3, 1982, he honorably served for an awe-inspiring span of 32 years before retiring as an E8 Master Sergeant on April 26, 2015. His military career was marked by numerous accolades and medals such as the Bronze Star. Whenever asked about his time in service, he would proudly proclaim the duration with remarkable precision: "I served 32 years, 8 months, and 23 days."
