Ernie (Papa) Montoya

Ernie “Papa” Montoya 70, a resident of Bernalillo passed away Friday, April 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Liberato and Victoriana Montoya, father Ernesto “Tata” Montoya, mother Mary Romero Madore, stepfather Ervin Madore, father in-law Eliseo Saavedra, brother in-law Gerald Saavedra. Mr. Montoya was a well-respected community member in the Town of Bernalillo and the Rio Puerco community. He spent his life as a dedicated rancher ensuring the family legacy that the L/2, L-2 carries on. He is survived by wife Barbara Montoya, his son Ernest M. Montoya III, daughter Amanda Torres and husband Raul, two granddaughters Aviana and Amarae Torres, daughter Charmayne Marquez and granddaughter Madison Marra, sister Barbara Cordova, and mother in-law Jenny Saavedra.

He will truly be missed by his loving family and those who knew, loved, and respected him. Pallbearers will be Raul Torres, Stan Lucero, Chris Montoya, Stan Saavedra, Angelo Sanchez, and Daniel Torres. Honorary pallbearers George Frequez, Victor Espinosa, Carlos Torres, Randy Torres, Earl Romero, and James Sandoval  Services are entrusted to Daniels Family Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th Street, N.W.
