Florence McCoy "Flo" passed away in peace and comfort on Sunday August 23rd 2026.
Deeply loved by her family she was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, and wife.
She was the youngest of four children and only daughter born to Jinio and Gregorita McCoy. She lived her entire life in Vallecito the place she lovingly called home.
Florence earned the enduring trust of her community through over 2 decades of dedicated service as Village clerk. Talented and selfless, she cared for family and friends through every stage of life, always with respect, love, and quiet confidence. Her presence had a way of making everyone she spoke with feel loved, valued and important.
Florence was preceded in death by her father Jinio McCoy, brother Steve McCoy, mother Gregorita McCoy (Ce de Baca), husband Randy Velarde and nephew Robert "Bobby" McCoy.
She is survived by: her brothers Valentin McCoy (Gertrude), Max McCoy (Martha); her nieces and nephews, Sandy McCoy, Matthew McCoy, Charlene McCoy Gill, Martin McCoy, Steve Daniel McCoy, Valerie McCoy Braasch, Brian McCoy, Mary Therese McCoy, and many beloved great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
The Rosary will be recited on Friday 8/28 at 2:00 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 3:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, N.M. Burial will follow at Cuba Catholic Cemetary.
