Gabriel Montano

Gabriel Edwin Xavier Montaño, 51, passed away on May 13, 2021 at his home in Placitas, NM.  He was the proud father of Selena, Francesca (Jaime Alvarado), Gabriel (Maria Conway), and Xavier (Alyssa Cordova), beloved son of George and Rita Montaño, and loving brother of Georgina (Bill Sedillo), Matt, and Dominic (Amber).

Gabe was a proud veteran of the United States Army, being deployed to the Persian Gulf in 1990, he earned many commendations including the Southwest Asia Service Medal Bronze Service Star and the Army Commendation Medal.

Upon returning to Bernalillo after his military service, Gabe served as an industrial mechanic/maintenance and safety supervisor for the American Gypsum Company.

A viewing open to the public will be Tuesday, May 18 at Daniel’s Family (Alameda Mortuary) at 9420 Fourth Street NW in Albuquerque, NM from 3:30-7:00 PM.

Gabe’s life celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Wednesday, May 19 at 10AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo.  Mass will begin at 10:30AM.  Gabe will be laid to rest following the Mass at OLOS cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gabriel Montaño, Jr., Xavier Montaño, Bill Sedillo, Matt Montaño, Dominic Montaño, and Leonard Montaño.
