Goretti Aragon

September 19, 1954 — June 8, 2025

Goretti Aragon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was called to rest on June 8th, 2025, in the town she cherished, Bernalillo. She was born in Albuquerque on September 19, 1954, and was the oldest of her 13 siblings, embodying the strength and warmth that often comes from such a large family.

A proud graduate of Bernalillo High School in 1972, Goretti dedicated her professional life to serving the State of New Mexico through her work at the Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD), where she spent 25 years making a positive impact on her community. After her well-earned retirement, she sought joy in a different environment by working at Dillard's, a job she embraced for the fun of it.

Throughout her life, Goretti took immense pride in her faith as a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, which served as a cornerstone for her values and sense of community. Her devotion extended beyond her church, resonating deeply within her family. Goretti is survived by her loving husband, Ramon Aragon, with whom she shared 48 beautiful years of marriage. Together they raised four wonderful children—Carla, Raymond, Paul, and Rosa—who carry forward the legacy of love and compassion that Goretti instilled in them.

As a grandmother, Goretti's heart knew no bounds, as she cherished her 10 grandchildren and her great-grandchild, Amelya. Each moment with them was a treasured gift, full of laughter and affection.

Goretti's memory will forever be held close by her mother, Maggie Ortiz, her siblings, and the many friends who were touched by her kindness and spirit. She was predeceased by her father, Adelaido Herrera, her sister Susan Tafoya, and her stepdad Willie Tafoya, who are surely embracing her on this new journey.

Goretti Aragon will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, dedication, and resilience will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us all to celebrate each day with joy and connection. May she rest in peace.
