Jessie Salazar

Jessie Salazar, age 73, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, passed away peacefully after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, while surrounded by her loving family.

She was a devoted and selfless wife, mother, grandmother and Catholic who truly enjoyed her family and faith. She was born November 14, 1944 in Espanola, New Mexico. Jessie spread love to anyone she met, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing blankets, quilts, and dolls which she would donate to sick children. It was a rare sight to see Jessie's hands sitting idle; she also enjoyed gardening and numerous crafts. She shared her love with food. She made the world's greatest enchiladas, fresh tortillas and bread, and out of this world pies. Nobody would ever leave Jessie's home without gaining a pant size. She was devoted to raising and spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also volunteered with Catholic Services for numerous years driving individuals to doctor appointments and providing a pair of listening ears and a shoulder to lean on.

She was preceded in death by her father, Epifanio Corrales; her eldest daughter, Beverly Miller; and special aunt Elizaida "Tita" Suazo. Jessie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Louis Salazar; her daughters and their spouses, Theresa and Pancho Linney, Annie and Dennis Jacquez, Judy and Abel Bazan, Janice Salazar and Michael Perrine; and son-in-law Joseph Miller; grandchildren, Victoria Miller, Danny Linney, Dennis Jacquez Jr., Nicole Jacquez, Jodene Chavez, April Chavez, Brittany Chavez and Delyna Salazar; and her great-grandchildren, Lexis, Posey, Genesis, Jayden, Gabriela, Amari, Jordyn, Victoria, Jacob, Angelo, and Ella.  Also surviving is her loving mother; Delfida Corrales; brothers, Manuel, Thomas, Joseph and Ruben; sisters, Lourdes, "Lulu", and Diane; the Suazo family as well as countless beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and God-children.  Jessie will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.  Final Viewing will be Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. also at the Daniels Family Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 Fourth St., NW.  Internment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
