Jose Miguel Martinez Jr.

Mr. Jose Miguel “Mike” Martinez Jr., born November 13, 1942 in Lumberton, New Mexico quietly departed this life Thursday, January 11, 2024 at home.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents Jose Miguel Martinez Sr and Casimira Rebecca Martinez.

He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Dolores (Motto) Martinez June 16, 1962 for 62 years. This union was blessed with five children, Mike Martinez, Joseph and Rebecca (Garcia) Martinez, Dolores (Martinez) and Karl Lopez, Richard and Susan (Badgley) Martinez, and Gilbert and Maria (Hernandez) Martinez; 13 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; and a host of devoted nephews and nieces.  His life will forever be cherished in the lives of all those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife and five children, brothers Juan “John” Luis Martinez, Robert “Bobby” Martinez, Anthony and Patricia (Martinez) Martinez, sisters Maria Aurelia (Martinez) and Maurice Sanchez, Marcella Anderson (Martinez).

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he proudly served 22 years in the United States Navy retiring as an Chief Petty Officer.

He was a spiritual man, serving the church as an Extraordinary Minister since 1975. Together with Dolores, they taught catechism, RCIA, Marriage Encounter, and Sunday School. He gave back to the community as a coach of youth sports.
