Maria Fought

Maria Ines Fought, age 87, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister,  passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 29, 2019.  She was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM. Maria was known as and referred to by so many as "grandma".

She was preceded in death by her parents, Placido Lucero and Rosalia Griego; her husband, George Fought; daughter, Lucille Fought; grandsons, George Fought and Matthew Fought; siblings, Refugia Tafoya, Jose E. Lucero, and Placido Lucero, Jr.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Jay (Debbie) Fought, Talla (Jerry) Gartin, Carmen (Vance) Van Patten, Georgetta (Will) Sanchez and Jimmy Bullens; eight grandchildren, Juanita, Tim, Monique, Christina, Jake, Nicole, and Jessica; ten great-grandchildren, Jack, Ethan, Al, Kayla, Sabastian, Sophia, Marisa, Dakota, Aniyah, and Angelo. Also surviving are her siblings, Richard Griego, Melesio Griego, and Dorothy Duran; many other loving relatives and friends.  Maria will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be Monday, October 7, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services ~ Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth Street NW, Albuquerque, where a Rosary will be recited  7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 Fourth Street NW, in Albuquerque.    Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Casket Bearers will be Tim Fought, Sabastian Pratt, Jerry Gartin, Matthew Ortiz, Will Sanchez, Mario Fought, Eric Jiron, and Raul Pena.
