Maribel Medina, born on November 12, 1971, in El Paso, Texas, passed away on May 19, 2026. She grew up in El Paso and later made her home in Bernalillo, New Mexico.

She is survived by her five children: her daughter, Yazmine Romero, and son-in-law, Keaton Romero; her sons, Michael Medina, Andrew Medina, Julian Chavez, and Enrique Chavez; her beloved grandchildren, Ximena Chavez, Anastasia Sanchez and Hunter Romero; her father, Arturo Gomez, and his wife, Maria Luisa; and her siblings, Hector Gomez, Mayela Gomez, Ana Gomez, Salvador Gomez, and Adrian Gomez.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Caridad Gallegos.

Maribel was funny, resilient, and deeply human. Like so many of us, she was complicated—but she loved her children very much. Her life was not without hardship, but she leaves behind a family who will carry her memory, her laughter, and the pieces of her that live on in each of them.
