Mary Ann Garcia

Mary Ann Garcia passed away on March 11, 2024. She was born August 15, 1934 in Santa Fe, NM.  Mary Ann was the youngest child of Onofre and Guadalupe V. Ortiz’s 17 children.  She was raised in Santa Fe and moved to Espanola, NM after her and Gilbert W. Garcia were married in 1964.  They raised their three daughters there, and in 2003 moved to Corrales, NM.

Mary Ann was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and always thinking of others.   She was strong in her faith which guided everything in her life.  She enjoyed cooking, embroidering and caring for her family and others.  She also enjoyed doing word search and jigsaw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Onofre and Guadalupe V. Ortiz; her husband, Gilbert W. Garcia; siblings, Emma Ortiz, Flora Roybal, Silverio “Shorty” Ortiz, Manuel V. Ortiz, Celina Sanchez, Rose Balogh, Placido Ortiz, Leopoldo Ortiz, Stella Ortiz, Miquela Smith, Rita Sosa, Lula Feldhake, Onofre Ortiz, Jr., Alfredo Ortiz, Martha Brads, and Elizabeth Sanchez.

Mary Ann is survived by her 3 daughters, Theresa Quintana (John), Maria Bustamante (Gerald), and Paula Garcia Gurule (Joe); four grandchildren, Jacob and Paul Quintana, Matthew and Ava Bustamante; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

  A private burial will take place at a later date.
