Mary Gurule

Mary Helen Gurule, beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with the Lord, Friday, September 18, 2015.  She was born on January 14, 1941 in Corrales, NM.  By the age of 14 Mary was orphaned and raised by her aunt and Godmother.  Mary graduated from Valley High School in 1960 and married her high-school sweetheart Alfredo Gurule on September 21, 1963.  Mary Helen loved gardening and all the beauty that nature provides; she enjoyed working with her hands and had a green thumb and it was no coincidence that her favorite color was green.  Just like nature she also provided by giving a nice meal to anyone who stepped into her kitchen.  Mary Helen was loved by so many people, and always went out of her way to make others feel special.

Mary Helen is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Alfredo Gurule; her daughters, Maria Romero and husband Tim, and Darlene Unale; her precious grandchildren, Savannah and Isleana Romero, Ashley, Joshua, and Alexandria Unale; great-grandson, Ethan James; and Godson, Lucas Paiz.  Mary Helen will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose hearts she touched.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services- Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth St., NW, Albuquerque, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.  Service of Christian Burial will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.  Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park.  Casket Bearers will be Abel Gurule, Matthew Sanchez, Joshua Unale, Davin Paiz, Jason Gamino, and Craig Cox.  Honorary Bearers will be Ashley Unale and Savannah Romero.
