Mary Magdalena Torres Winter

July 22, 1927 — February 13, 2024

Mary Magdalena Torres Winter, a beloved soul who touched the hearts of many with her kindness and generosity, has passed away at the age of 96 in Albuquerque, NM. Born in Cd. Juarez, Mexico on July 22, 1927, Mary's life was a testament to resilience and compassion.

Despite facing the challenges of single parenthood, Mary never wavered in her determination to create a better life for herself and her loved ones. Her unyielding spirit led her to achieve remarkable milestones; working full time, obtaining her GED, remarriage, and eventually becoming a naturalized citizen.

Mary's legacy of giving knew no bounds. Her acts of kindness were part of her life's purpose; from sharing pinons with her father and showering her nieces and nephews with gifts, to delighting neighborhood children with bags of fresh potato chips on Halloween. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she spared no effort in spoiling them with love and affection.

In addition to her altruistic nature, Mary found solace in simple joys like gardening and crocheting. These hobbies not only brought her personal fulfillment but also allowed her to bring joy to those around her.

Mary's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire generations to come. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Jose Rocha Torres & Antonia Vallejo Torres; stepmom Emilia Torres & siblings Benny Torrez, Angie Federico & Ramon Torrez; and daughter Rose Marie Barber.

She is survived by her children Harold Barber, Magdalena Foley, and Diane Sandoval (spouse Frank), along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Valerie Marie Barber, Orlando Apodaca (spouse Melissa) & Adeline Apodaca.  Antonio Apodaca, Aryssa & Natalia Apodaca. Adrienne Garcia Sandoval.  Ada Sandoval, Paxton & Jensen Hernandez. Gina Sandoval & son Maddox Garcia.

Mary's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her gentle spirit. May she rest in God's eternal peace knowing that she made this world a brighter place through her unwavering love and generosity.
