Mary Ann Stephenson died peacefully on April 20th 2026, in her beloved Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was 94 years old. Mary Ann was born November 11 1931 in Carlsbad, NM, to Wanda Inez “Totsy” Shipp and William Henry Hastings. She graduated from Hobbs High School in 1949 and was a cheerleader and friend to all. She graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1955 with a B.A. in English. She married Robert B Stephenson in 1954. They had two children and designed and built a wonderful adobe home where they loved to host and gather. Mary Ann loved travel, art, literature, music, tennis, bridge, and a good enchilada party. She adored hands, clouds, the vast New Mexico blue sky and beauty of all kinds. She had an unparalleled kindness that she offered lovingly to all. She is survived by her sister Colleen Newman, daughter Ani Cortes, granddaughter Daisy Cortes, and great granddaughter Nettle Dan Hilchey-Cortes.
