Michael A. Quintana of Albuquerque, NM passed away on April 29, 2022 at the age of 70 after a courageous 5-month battle with cancer.
Michael was born on January 9, 1952 in Santa Fe, NM and grew up in Pojoaque, NM. He graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1969. Upon graduation he pursued a college education at the University of New Mexico. Michael spent his 37 year career at Sandia National Laboratories, where he focused on solar energy reliability.
Michael’s pride and joy was his family; his wife of 44 years Helen and his two sons Marco and Enrico. This family of four spent as much time as possible outdoors or playing sports. Activities included skiing, soccer, basketball, fishing, hunting, and camping. The rest of the time was spent trying to instill excellence in their schooling, especially in math and science.
In 2016 Michael and Helen took retirement seriously and bought a home in Pagosa Springs, CO. He quickly fell in love with the community and even served as president of the home-owners association. They spent their time exploring southwestern Colorado; hiking, riding bicycles, fishing, snowshoeing, and enjoying true mountain time.
Michael is predeceased by his parents Carlos & Genevieve Quintana, and his dogs Enzo and Kotton.
Michael is survived by his wife Helen, sons Marco (wife Lauren) and Enrico, and sisters Linda, Carla (husband Mickey), and Kathy (husband Marshall), along with other Family members and Friends.
