Piedad Martinez

Heaven received a beautiful angel on June 17, 2025. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandma, gg grandma Piedad Martinez. Piedad was born in Taos County and grew up in a small montanus community called La Llama in northern New Mexico. Piedad Martinez was 89 years old. She was a wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years Luis G Martinez, SR who passed away in August of 2024. Piedad was also preceded in death by her father Jose Bentio Duran, Mother Guillerma Herrera, three sisters, and one brother Teresita Romero, Alicia Martinez, Eutilia Martinez, and Gabriel Duran.

Piedad is survived by Daughter Lauren Griego, Son Luis G Martinez J.R. {wife Lorraine), Daughter Geraldine (Geri) Martinez, grandchildren Aaron Hiner (wife Angie), Kristy Mondragon {husband Mark}, Naomi Wasson {husband Mathew}, Matthew Martinez {wife Christine}, Samantha Pohl (husband Micheal Aguirre), and Zachary Pohl (husband Tim) and 10 great grandchildren.

Piedad loved traveling, reading, and gardening. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. Her love for her family kept her going.
