It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Placido Andrew Lucero, affectionately known as Andy, who left us on July 4, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on May 19, 1967, in Alameda, New Mexico, Andy was a beacon of warmth and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him.
Andy had a unique way with people, always managing to connect deeply with those around him. His genuine spirit and vibrant personality will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends. He dedicated over 28 years of love to his spouse, Bernadette Lucero. Together, they nurtured a family.
Andy’s legacy continues through his children: Andrea and her husband Luis, Juanita and her husband William, Elizabeth and her husband Mauricio, Marisa and her husband Antonio, Christina, Erlynda, Brianna and her husband Malachi, and Andrew and his wife Tatiana. He took immense pride in being a Grandpa to his 14 cherished grandchildren, a role he considered one of his proudest accomplishments.
His hobbies included a passion for working on cars and an enthusiasm for drag races, activities that brought him joy and an opportunity to bond with friends and family.
He is survived by his brother Freddy and his wife Mena Lucero, as well as his sisters Vanessa Lucero and Annette Lucero. He was predeceased by his parents, Placido and Marcella Lucero, along with siblings Victoria Lucero, Melvin Ronquillo, Maria Ronquillo, and Samuel Lucero.
Andy’s memory will be honored by his pallbearers: Andrew Lucero, Teddy Aragon, Frank Otero, Andrew Williams, Johnny Salazar, Adam Duran, and Eugene Gonzales. Additionally, Malachi and Mauricio Gutierrez will serve as honorary bearers.
Though Andy has departed from this world, his spirit, love, and laughter will remain alive in the hearts of all who cherished him. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
