Rachel Atencio

Rachel Atencio, age 93, beloved sister and aunt passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 17, 2024. She was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM and lived in Los Angeles, CA for the majority of her life. Rachel was entertaining, smart, funny, and enjoyed watching movies, reading, and indulging in sweets. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Solomon and Maria P. Chavez; husband, John D. Atencio; daughter, Elizabeth Almeida; and 13 siblings. 

Rachel is survived by her loving brother and sisters, Nestor Chavez, Rosemary Serda, Irene Porter, and Marcella Martinez; niece, Yvonne Armijo and husband Leonard Armijo, great niece, Amber Apodaca, and great great niece, Alena Apodaca, numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Rachel will be greatly missed by her loving family and those whose lives she touched.
