Russell Martin

September 14, 1943 — August 20, 2023

Albuquerque

Russell (Russ) Eugene Martin, born September 14, 1943 (age 79), left this world to join the Heavenly Father on August 20, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.  He left a void felt by all who knew him, but he shared his thankfulness for a full life, great family and friends.

Russ is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy Martin and his brothers Dickie and Gary. He is survived by Judy, his loving wife of 53 years (married April 18, 1970), his sisters Marilyn, Carol/Tudy (Dick) Ostlie, Amy (Dave) Tonsager, and Aleda (Bob) Fritzke, and his brothers Bill, Harold, and Steven (Teresa). He is also survived by his children Michelle and Ryan (Chrissy), and grandchildren Oksana, Hans, and Greta, and many nieces and nephews.

Russ grew up in Lakeville, Minnesota and was a graduate of Lakeville High School and Dunwoody Technical Institute. Russ was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, where he actively served 2 years before beginning his career as a Journeyman Pipefitter in the Twin Cities Area. He was also an active member of the VFW.

Russ had a passion for helping everyone, supporting his Church family, and dabbling in everything mechanical. He could succeed in building almost anything.  He also enjoyed racing stock cars and later watching stock car racing as well as restoring his 1966 Mustang with the help of his family on Mustang Mondays.

Russ enjoyed creating memories with his family and chose every opportunity to teach his children and grandchildren life's lessons.  He enjoyed camping, exploring mines and old trains, and using his skills and talents to benefit others.
