Sam Boykin

September 21, 1947 — January 18, 2017

Sammie "Sam" E. Boykin, age 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 18, 2017.   He was born in Mobile, AL and was a resident of Albuquerque, NM.  Sam served his country in the United States Marine Crop during the Viet Nam War; and was a three time recipient of the Purple Heart; and was a life member and past Commander of the American Legion Post # 60 in Grants, NM, and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Post #20 also in Gallup.  He enjoyed fishing and camping.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Lillian T. Boykin; his children, 1st Sergeant William P. Boykin and wife Linda, David Lango, Paul Lango, Earl Oswalt, Jr., Athena Maria Oswalt and companion Max Maes, Tammi Boykin, Teresa Gardner and husband Chris; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  Sam will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.

Memorial Services will be conducted Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Garcia Mortuary in the Chapel of The Angels, located on 8th Street and Iron.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, please consider making Memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans or to the St. Jude's Hospital at St. Jude.org.
