Shirley Louise Damron, 73, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. She was born on July 23, 1952, in Raton, New Mexico, to Bud and Lillian Damron.

Shirley was a proud graduate of Sandia High School and later attended Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, Texas. She spent many years with AT&T, where she loved sharing stories about her time running the switchboards—a job she took great pride in and often spoke about with a smile.

After retiring, Shirley dedicated her life to serving others. She volunteered countless hours at Road Runner Little League, alongside her parents, and proudly served as President for many years. A meticulous and passionate scorekeeper, she played a key role in helping build Road Runner into one of the premier little league programs in Albuquerque, leaving a legacy that continues today.

Shirley loved life and the people in it. She treasured her time swimming with her “pool ladies” at the YMCA, gathering with friends for game days, meals, swimming, and laughter. Her friendships meant everything to her, and she had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for.

Her faith guided her life. Shirley loved her church and volunteered wherever she was needed—feeding the homeless, caring for children, and serving quietly behind the scenes. She was generous, compassionate, and always looking for ways to make someone’s life a little better.

She is survived by her sister, Thelma Gaston, and husband Jerry of Los Lunas, New Mexico; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tiffany Damron of Tampa, Florida; her daughter, Misty of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and her cherished grandchildren, Makalin, Jordan, and Cai.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. The family would like to thank James Chambers and Alameda Mortuary for their kindness, care, and support during this difficult time.

Shirley’s love, kindness, and servant’s heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
