Steven Yelton, age 66, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, at his home. Steven spent his life residing in Kansas and Missouri, acting as choir director of the United Church of Christ in California, MO, before retiring to Albuquerque in 2003. Steven attended First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque, NM, where he served as a deacon and an elder. In addition to his musical talent, Steven was known for jokes of poor taste and always being right - especially when in conflicting ideology with his wife, Nora.
Steven leaves behind, his wife Nora (Dutcher) Yelton of Albuquerque; his daughters, Kim Haesemeier and son-in-law Dave of Concordia, MO, Kristen Allred and son-in-law Shelby of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Emerson Haesemeier of Concordia, MO; step-granddaughter Keya Allred of Madison, WI; sisters, Donna and Martha Yelton of the Kansas City area; sister-in-law, Linda Yelton of Osage Beach, MO; and in-laws, Darryl and Tawna Dutcher of California, MO.
Much to his chagrin, Steven’s little brother, David Yelton of Osage Beach, MO, and also known for jokes of poor taste, bested him in the race to heaven by a mere five months. Their surviving family members have no doubt the brothers are now sharing jokes of poor taste and attempting to best one another in new competitions this very moment.
A Memorial Service will be conducted Sunday, February 4. 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust St., NE, Albuquerque 87102; with a reception to follow.
