When WWII broke out Leo joined the Marines. Assigned to the 1st Marine Division – A1-5 he was trained as a sharpshooter and he was then deployed to the Pacific Theatre. He was wounded in the battle for the Island of Peleliu. Leo served his country honorably and proudly.
