Louis Velarde

February 25, 1940 — December 29, 2021

Louis Velarde, left this world on December 29, 2021. Waiting for him in heaven were his parents Ignacio and Terecita Velarde, Rose who was married his brother Randy Velarde , and his niece Theresa. He is survived by his son, Chris Campbell, sister Reyna Emerson, Brother Tom Velarde and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Louis proudly served his country in the United States Army overseas in Germany and was honorably discharged. On his return, attained his License as a Barber and was still cutting hair for many people to this day.  Louie, as he was known, lived in Cuba, New Mexico where he worked as a Mail Carrier for many years to the nearby Torreon, Ojo Encino area.  He was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Cuba. He loved to go fishing with Bobby Gurule’ and Richard Velarde, his cousins. Louie loved his family and lived for them. He would help on the ranch after he returned from overseas service. He was known to call his sister often and kept touch with his family as only Louie could. His laugh was contagious and loved being a joker. He lived his life to the fullest and when he left us, he knew that his family would be stronger. Louie will be missed by so many in this world, but in his eternal life is reunited with those he had missed and went before him.
