Maria Aragon

On April 18, 2022, Maria Sibilyn Aragon (Sibi) passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 87 years old. A lifelong New Mexico native, Sibi was born in Ranchos de Taos. Sibi is preceded in death by parents Juan De Dios Valerio & Ernestine Gonzales, beloved husband of 49 years Michael T Aragon, sister Carol Caravalho, and sister Aurora Tommie Mondragon.

Sibi is survived by brother Felipe Valerio, sisters Porfie Gonzales and Corine Martinez, sons David L Aragon and Michael J Aragon (Madonna Aragon), daughter Carmela Aragon, grandsons Roman Aragon and Christopher Aragon, granddaughter Ariela Aragon-Montaño, & numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.  She always provided support and love for her family. She and her husband Mike worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their kids.

Sibi attended NMHU & UNM, obtaining her master’s degree in Education and proudly taught the children of New Mexico Elementary Education for 34 years. She had a deep faith and was very active in her church community, singing in the church choir, member of Altar Linen Society, and always lending a helping hand in church events.

After retirement she enjoyed traveling the globe with her husband.
